Ancellotti
|
Tells you everything you need to know about our owners.
Everton about to unveil Ancellotti, while we dither and delay, and pat ourselves on the back (at Boardroom level) that we can always bring back the Moyesiah on a long term deal.
Ancellotti - third most decorated manager in Europe after Guardiola and Mourinho
Moyes - managerial nobody.
Everton and ourselves are at pretty similar stages and statures in the game...both underachieving in the hunt to put pressure on the established top 5 or 6 clubs. Their decisiveness and ambition managerially demonstrates exactly why our owners have taken us as far as they can, and they're beating us to the punch.
Pellegrini was a bold appointment that looks like it probably won't work out, but they should be credited for taking that path. But as soon as things start to look dicey, rather than stay the course and stay ambitious, all the evidence is they'll about turn and either limp along with a busted flush, or regress to previous uninspiring ways.
West Ham may have problems on the pitch and in the first team squad, but the major source of issues still resides at the top of the club. Will be interesting to see how Ancellotti gets on at Everton - I suspect he'll do very well!

Ancelotti will be gone in a couple of years.
I'm jealous of Everton's owner's commitment to the club but not of the manager.

Never liked Everton but it must be infuriating for them to see the only rivals in their City go further and further away. Hasn’t been a success but they at least are trying everything to get competitive with them again. We aren’t even considering trying to get the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea within range.

Players, I agree. Not so much managers. Especially ones that are out in the wilderness of China, showing little or no ambition.

But if that manager is your top target, then you do what it takes to get them. And who's to say the next manager you target won't settle for anything other than a long term contract? Players and managers hold all the cards with regards to contracts.

Maybe they won’t, Mike. Then you move on to the next man.
If Pellegrini had been given a two year deal, we’d have a new manager in place by now.

If it had come down to a choice between the two managers that were appointed last week I’d prefer Arteta over Ancelloti.

Simon, maybe the managers won't sign unless they get given a longer contract?

It's an English thing, don't happen in Europe. Same with the FA always handing out long deals to England managers. As if Ancelotti is gonna still be there in 4 years, fella is laughing all the way to the bank.

I don’t see the sense in giving these managers such long contracts. Same with Pellegrini. Should have gave him a two year deal max.

I not convinced by Ancelotti either, I think this could go wrong. Juve were not happy with him.
Sven, I would really love a good cup run. I still rate Pardew highly for giving us the 2006 final.
Joe, have you watch Athletico much? Too close to long ball aggressive football, I don’t want that at West Ham.

Exactly Sven. I think the problem is the balance between entertaiment and survival.

The 20 clubs in the Premier league all have differing levels of resources and expectations. Not sure anyone outside the top 6 expects to win trophies at the moment whoever their manager is. Most West Ham fans I speak to want us to be competitive, provide some entertainment and have a genuine TRY at winning the cups.

If the 20 best managers in the world based on trophies, win percentages and overall reputation were all managing in the premierleague defiantly 3 and probably 10 will be shit and need to be sacked in the eyes of fans.
I order for someone to win, someone has to lose.
The league is ruthless and probably to its detriment and a clubs bank balance.
